Two SOVS-UCC Researchers Honoured for Exceptional Contributions to Institutional Research Excellence
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) reinforced its standing as a leading research institution as several faculty members were recognised during the 10th Research Awards and Grants (RAG) Ceremony and the 2nd Research and Innovation Week held in November 2025 at the School of Graduate Studies, UCC. This year’s ceremony highlighted outstanding performance across key indicators that contribute directly to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2026. Based on data submitted for 2023, top-performing faculty members were celebrated for excellence in Scopus publications, citations, and research income.

The School of Optometry and Vision Science, UCC proudly witnessed two of its faculty members receive major honours for their remarkable contributions to UCC’s research advancement.
Dr. Enyam Morny
Dr. Morny, Head of the Vision Science Department and Vice Dean of the School, received the Outstanding Contribution to Institutional Research Income Award. This recognition reflects his success in generating competitive research funding and supporting the University’s strategic research agenda.
Prof. Samuel Kyei
Prof. Samuel Kyei, a faculty member of Department of Ophthalmic Science and the Director for Biomedical and Clinical Research Centre was honoured with three research grant awards, demonstrating his continued commitment to strengthening research in optometry and contributing to impactful scientific progress within the field.
