ACADEMIC PROGRAMME
The Department of Optometry and Vision Science offers a sandwich programme for Bachelor degree holders (4 sandwich semester) and Diploma holders (6 sandwich semester ) leading to the award of DOCTOR OF OPTOMETRY (OD), which is a professional qualification for Optometrists.
ADMISSION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The Department of Optometry and Vision Science maintains an extremely rigorous admission process and has a policy of competitive expectation for academic excellence. To be able to apply for admission, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Candidates with B.Sc. (Optometry) or B.Sc. (Ophthalmic Science) or B.Sc. (Vision Science) or post graduate diploma in Optometry may be allowed to enter the professional programme (OD) at the appropriate level depending on the content of their transcripts.
Candidates who meet the minimum rand above equirements will have their applications reviewed for interview consideration. Interviews of applicants are strictly by invitation, and the most competitive candidates are invited to determine their suitability. Applicants will be considered for admission on the basis of academic performance and comments from personal interviews conducted by the Department.
